What is Music Omnibus?
Music Omnibus is a project created by Nick Wyatt and is designed to be an accessible learning platform for all musicians, regardless of age or ability. On this site you will find lessons, in the form of articles, targeted towards both those with advanced knowledge in musicology and those who have only recently decided to pick up on instrument. Simply choose a topic that interests you and start learning today.
Nick is a musicologist based in London who has been dedicated to playing, writing and studying music from a very young age. He is a graduate of the BRIT School and the University of Surrey, where he achieved first class honours. His undergraduate degree saw him specialising in jazz composition and advanced harmony, with his dissertation entitled “The Evolution of Jazz Harmony”. His primary instruments have always been piano and drums, allowing him to explore wide range of musical repertoire throughout his musical journey. He has always expressed the importance of eclecticism, both in how he wishes to engage with music and also how he thinks others should too. The musical world is vast, meaning it’s vital to constantly explore all of what it has to offer for developing concrete opinions on topics. There is a great value in studying the satisfying counterpoint of J.S.Bach as there is unravelling the harmonic and rhythmic dissonance of any progressive rock band.
Music Omnibus is designed to discriminate against no topic nor reader. Everything and everybody is welcome.
